“In boxing, big punchers seek knockouts. In government, the same principle applies: The wealthiest corporations and special interest groups usually pepper politicians with overwhelming amounts of money in hope of influencing the political process.

Thrivent rolls up into the designated Heavy Hitter category through American Council of Life Insurers. Drill down on the link to see who they support.
Because of contribution limits, organizations that bundle together many individual contributions are often among the top donors to presidential candidates. These contributions can come from the organization's members or employees (and their families). The organization may support one candidate, or hedge its bets by supporting multiple candidates. Groups with national networks of donors - like EMILY's List and Club for Growth - make for particularly big bundlers......Opensecrets.org
Thrivent supported Amy Klobuchar for state senator from Minnesota and her largest single donor was Emily’s List, a pro abortion PAC.

Somewhat off topic, but nevertheless, interesting:
Dorsey and Whitney are allegedly retained by the SMn BOD LCMS in a property dispute over a chapel in New Ulm.

It is also interesting to read in the MNS BOD 2-7-2012 UNAPPROVED Meeting Minutes: item V. b., page 3 (http://mns.lcms.org/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=cYf1J0MR9GI%3d&tabid=59&mid=809) that the MNS DP has been given the authority to hire additional consultants “to protect the interests of the District in the sale of the District property located at 1101 University Avenue, Minneapolis.”, and that approval has been given to retain the firm of Dorsey & Whitney as special counsel. Dorsey & Whitney is a high profile (and no doubt expensive) legal house in the Twin Cities.
Does the MNS BOD have an itch that bothers them??

“Human ecology has a history of focusing attention on humans’ impact on the biotic world.[1][29] Paul Sears was an influential ecologist in this respect who addressed the population explosion of humanity, global resource limits, pollution, and published a comprehensive account on human ecology as a discipline in 1954.” (Wiki)
